With the arrival of summer, insect season also begins again every year. Flies, bees, wasps, and horseflies in particular make everyday life difficult for humans and animals at this time of year. Fortunately, there are now numerous products and aids designed to keep these pests away. Horses and cows, in particular, have to contend with a high horsefly infestation in the hot summer months and suffer several painful bites every day, which can even become infected in the worst cases.
To finally put an end to this and protect the animals from annoying horsefly bites in the future, the Taon-X" horsefly trap is ideal. Thanks to its simple operation, the trap reduces up to 95% of horseflies in the immediate vicinity and protects the animals from chafed skin or weeping wounds.
How the Taon X works:
Horses can only perceive light and dark contrasts, similar to a thermal imaging camera, and are not attracted to smells like bees or wasps. Accordingly, horses' bodies, heated by the sun in summer, are a popular target for them. But this is now a thing of the past thanks to the Taon X" horsefly trap. The dark ball in the center of the trap symbolizes a horse's hindquarters and heats up in the sun. To further enhance its attractiveness, the protective screen is in a contrasting white color to demarcate the horse's supposed rear end. The horsefly cannot resist this and is attracted by the heated black ball. Once it has flown toward the supposed victim, it tries to find a suitable bite site. The horsefly then realizes that it was mistaken and that the heated ball is not an animal body part and tries to fly away. However, its lack of aerial acrobatics proves to be its undoing: The horsefly can only fly upwards and is guided upwards by the protective screen into the attached trap. It is now trapped there and cannot escape. Afterwards, all that's left to do is empty the container containing the trapped horseflies, and the animals can spend time undisturbed in the pasture.
